Joshua Dirga operates meramu as an individual based in the United States, not through a separate company. These terms cover this website, its browser trial and the optional account service. The iPhone and iPad app is licensed under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Using the website and trial

You may use the website and trial for personal learning. Please do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, or use automated requests that disrupt other visitors.

The browser trial is free to play and has no account. It includes five levels in 50 learning languages. Progress lasts for the current tab session and is lost when you reload. The app has 251 lessons, 384 illustrated cards, and 50 learning languages, with progress saved locally for each learning language.

Optional account service

Account in Settings, called Backup in earlier iPhone and iPad versions, offers optional accounts to players aged 13 or older. From version 1.2.8, players who select 13–17 or 18 or older can sign in. Earlier versions offer accounts only to players who select 18 or older. You must accept these terms before signing in. If you are 13 to 17, read these terms with a parent or guardian. Where local law requires their permission for you to use an online account, get it before signing in. You can play locally without an account. Use your own Apple, Google or email account and keep access secure. Choose a nickname that does not impersonate someone or contain abusive content. Nicknames are private and may be rejected by the name filter.

An account stores your nickname, language preferences and learning progress. In versions with streaks, it also stores the dates you completed lessons. You choose how to combine local and saved progress. Sync requires a connection and may be delayed or interrupted. Export a copy if you need an independent record. In Account you can export your data, sign out, reset backed-up progress or delete the account. You can also request account deletion on this website. Deletion removes the active cloud account; it leaves cards saved on this device. The privacy policy explains provider processing and deletion.

We may restrict account access to address unauthorized use, security threats or legal obligations. Where practical, we will explain the restriction and how to contact us. Local play remains available. These terms do not promise permanent availability of a free backup service or remove your statutory rights.

Children and families

Children and adults may use meramu. Accounts are for players aged 13 or older. Younger players can play locally without one. Parents and guardians should help children understand these terms and supervise use as appropriate. Where applicable law requires permission from a parent or guardian, that requirement still applies. These terms do not take away protections that children or consumers have under local law.

Learning content

Translations and pronunciation are learning aids. Some words have several meanings, and errors can occur. Please send corrections when you find them. The game does not promise fluency or a particular learning result.

Artwork and source materials

Original app and website materials belong to Joshua Dirga or their respective creators. Third-party data and artwork remain subject to their own licenses. The credits page identifies those sources and provides license notices and downloads.

Availability and updates

The website, trial, and learning content may change, and access may sometimes be interrupted. Keep any information you need separately. Local-only progress has no meramu cloud copy. Optional backup, where available, saves only changes that have finished syncing.
