meramu is a card-combining language game for iPhone and iPad, with 251 lessons, 384 illustrated cards, and 50 learning languages. The browser trial includes five levels in all 50 learning languages.

Get help

Email support@meramu.app. Describe what happened. You can include a word, lesson, or language when it helps explain the problem. Please leave out passwords, sign-in codes, and unnecessary personal information, especially a child's full name, birth date, school, or photo. In builds with Send feedback, you can write and review a draft before opening your email app. You choose what to include and when to send it. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to help.

Change languages

On Path, tap the flag to change your learning language. You can also open Settings and choose Learning language. Each learning language has its own cards and level progress. A new language starts at the beginning; returning to a language restores where you left off.

Native language in Settings controls the translations that help you learn. Changing it keeps your learning progress. Choose different native and learning languages.

See a translation

Press and hold a card in the app to see its meaning in your native language. In the browser trial, tap a card in the collection below the game to see its English meaning.

Find your current lesson

The penguin marks your current stop on Path. If you scroll away, use the arrow at the bottom right to return to it.

Hear a word

Turn on Speak cards in Settings, or open a card and tap its speaker button. Pronunciation uses a downloaded or included audio clip, or an available voice on your device. Download a lesson while online to keep its clips available offline. Device voice availability varies by language and device. meramu does not record your voice or need a microphone.

You can keep playing if a voice is unavailable. Chinese words include pinyin. Japanese words use romaji by default, with a kana option in Settings.

On this website, tap a card to hear its word, or tap the artwork on an open card to hear it again. Speech uses your browser's available voices. Some voices use an online service from your browser or operating-system provider. Voice quality and availability vary; the trial still works without audio.

Practice reminders

Android 1.2.3 test builds and iOS 1.2.4 include Practice reminder in Settings. These updates are subject to store review and rollout. Choose a daily local time, enable the reminder and allow notifications. Reminders are off by default and skip days when you finish a lesson. Android may deliver them later to save battery. On iPhone and iPad, opening the app refreshes the next 30 days of reminders. Change the time or turn reminders off in Settings. Your choice stays on this device. In versions with streaks, you can choose up to two reminder times and reminders pause after an absence. Complete a lesson to skip the remaining reminders that day.

Play offline and keep progress

The app saves progress on your device. Download a lesson's artwork and pronunciation while online, then play it offline. New lessons may need more downloads. iPhone supports portrait; iPad supports portrait and landscape.

Players 13 and older can open Account in Settings, called Backup in earlier iPhone and iPad versions. Versions before 1.2.8 offer accounts to adults only. If your age range isn't saved, Account asks you to choose one first. Google and email-code sign-in are available on both platforms, with Apple sign-in also available on iPhone and iPad. In Android 1.2.3 test builds and iOS 1.2.4, agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy, tap Next, then choose a sign-in method. Email opens Create account. Set a password and confirm the eight-digit code sent to your email. If you already have an account, choose Sign in; Use a code instead is also available there. Earlier Android builds offer Google, email codes and password sign-in for existing accounts.

Changes save here first, then sync when online. In versions with streaks, signed-in accounts also sync completed local practice dates. Resetting courses keeps the streak and does not replenish starter shields. Android and iOS 1.2.4 start sync automatically when local progress can be combined with that account. If it belongs to another account or the account was reset elsewhere, follow the restore prompt; the device copy is kept separately. Earlier iPhone and iPad versions let you choose whether to combine or restore progress in Backup. Account lists Export my data, Reset progress on all devices, Delete account and Sign out. Some earlier versions put export and deletion under Manage data, and earlier iPhone and iPad versions put these controls in Backup. Support cannot restore local-only progress after it has been removed from the device. The browser trial keeps progress only in the current tab and starts over when you reload.

Delete your account

You can request deletion of your meramu account and cloud data here, even if you have removed the app.

Start over

Open Settings and choose Reset progress. Confirming clears all learning progress in every learning language. Your selected languages stay selected.

Download meramu

meramu is available for iPhone and iPad. Android is in a private closed test and is not yet publicly available. Download meramu on the App Store, or play the five-level browser demo.
