About meramu
meramu is a card-combining language game made by Joshua Dirga. Combine illustrated cards to discover new objects and learn their names in your chosen language.
How do you play?
Choose two cards to make something new. Each level gives you a goal card to discover. Open a card to see its translation and hear its word when pronunciation is available.

The browser demo has five levels in all 51 learning languages, with English translations. It starts over when you reload the page.
The iPhone and iPad app has 300 levels and 382 illustrated cards. It saves progress on your device for each learning language. You can choose a native language for supporting translations.
meramu focuses on vocabulary. It does not teach a complete grammar or conversation course.

Chinese cards include pinyin. Japanese cards show romaji by default, with a kana option in the app. Pronunciation availability depends on your device and language.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The app works offline and saves progress locally. It has no accounts, ads, or in-app purchases. It does not provide cloud sync.
The browser demo needs an internet connection to load. Browser voices may use an online speech service. Read the privacy policy for details.
Can I download it?
The first iPhone and iPad release is awaiting App Store approval. The browser demo is available now.
